Demo Alert:Teacher union to demonstrate on December 15 over laptop deductions
The Executives of All Teachers Alliance Ghana (ATAG) has revealed plans by the Association to embark on a nationwide demonstration over TM1 Laptop deductions.
All Teachers Alliance Ghana (ATAG) has planned to embark on a demonstration next Wednesday, December 15, 2021.
According to ATAG, the demonstration
is to drum home their displeasure over the government’s decision to deduct an amount of ¢509 from the teachers’ professional development allowance as payment for the one-teacher one laptop policy.

In an interview with Citi News, General Secretary of All Teachers Alliance Ghana, Albert Dadson Amoah, said that [GES] should prepare for us. Teachers are minimizing themselves. We want to use this forum to call on GES once again to immediately refund the GH₵ 509 to teachers.” he further added

It will be recalled that not too long ago, three Teacher Unions namely; GNAT, CCT, and NAGRAT signed MOU with GES to provide teachers with laptops to improve teaching and learning in the basic and second cycle institutions.
Under the One-teacher One-laptop policy, the government required that teachers pay 30 percent of the cost of GHS 1,550 through deductions from their salaries while it pays 70 percent.
