Macro Teaching For First Batch Of B.Ed Students In Colleges Of Education Ends Today

Macro Teaching or Supported Teaching In Schools For Level 400 B.Ed Students teachers from the 46 Accredited Public Colleges Of Education ends today.

Supported Teaching in School (STS)
is key to ensuring that student
teachers gain meaningful
classroom experience during their
off-campus teaching practice.
As part of the requirements for the award of Bachelor Of Education, Students teachers are expected to spend one semester in selected schools on Teaching Practice.

Macro Teaching for Level 400 B.Ed students in Colleges of Education began on 13th September 2021 across the country.

Importance Of Macro Teaching

Teaching practice is a key component of the undergraduate teacher training program. It is during this period that the student-teacher gets to translate the skills and theory learned into reality through actual classroom teaching. Teaching practice is a vital component of teacher education and training because it provides student teachers with an opportunity to learn from experience in the workplace.

Second Semester Reopening Date For Level 400 B.Ed Students

Per the 2021/2022 academic calendar for Colleges Of Education, level 400 B.Ed students are expected to reopen on 12th June 2022.

Teacher Trainee Allowance
Level 400 B.Ed students started their macro teaching with high expectations that their allowances in arrears will be paid.
All promises made by the government to pay the allowance never materialized however, the Teacher Trainees Association Of Ghana also gave the government three weeks’ ultimatum to pay the allowances but to no avail.

According to trainees, Macro Teaching allowed them to translate the skills and theory learned into reality through actual classroom teaching.
