2022 budget: EduWatch Raises Alarm over trainees allowance, Check Details
The Chief Executive Officer of Think Tank – Africa Education Watch (EduWatch), Mr.Kofi Asare has raised concerns over the amount allocated in the 2022 budget for payment of teacher and nursing trainee allowances.
According to Eduwatch, the government has already spent over GHC 600 million on teacher trainee allowances since 2017.

“The amount projected for payment of teacher and nursing trainee allowance can be channeled to build over 1,500 Junior High Schools across the country”.
“We cannot transform our basic education if we continue spending hundreds of millions on allowances for teacher and nursing trainees who could access student loans, only to deprive poor children of a Junior High School education”.

It will be recalled that the government has projected ¢401.1 million in the 2022 budget which will be read today for payment of teacher and nursing trainee allowances.
