The demand for secondary education has increased as a result of high completion rates at the Junior high School level. In response to this, several new public schools have been provided, whilst facilities in existing schools have been upgraded.
Trends in school placement from the Computer Schools Selection and Placement System (CSSPS)
indicate some disparity in the selection of schools. Students overwhelmingly choose the popular but few traditionally high-performing schools thereby leading to oversubscription of these schools.
Many schools that have significantly improved in recent years remain unknown and undersubscribed.
We believe that this anomaly is partly due to the lack of information available to students and parents.

DESCRIPTION
St. John’s Vocational/Technical Institute formally called Nandom Practical Vocational School was established in 1973 by the Brothers of Immaculate Conception (FIC) and is a Catholic religious congregation to response to the needs of the area. This was at the time it was difficult to get craft men and women.
Originally, Rural Building, a combination of masonry and carpentry was identified as the most relevant at that time.
VISION
To be a TVET institution of choice within the Region and beyond.
MISSION
To provide effective and efficient education and training to the youth, particularly, school leavers,
based on Christian values and moral principles, to acquire skills, knowledge, and attitudes for self-employment as a strategy for self-reliance.
