Official: GES Changes Public Basic Schools Calendar From Semester To Trimester

The management of the Ghana Education Service after engagement with Key educational stakeholders and a section of the general public has finally agreed to change the Public Schools calendar from the semester to a trimester system.

According to GES, the calendar for Kindergarten to Junior High School for the current academic year should revert to the Trimester system.

Withdraw new semester system immediately-Teacher Unions To GES

This decision to revert to the trimester system came after the Ministry of Education has received a lot of resistance upon the introduction of the semester system.

It may be recalled that the Ministerial Committee on School Calendar issued a calendar for the current academic year indicating that Kindergarten toSystemr High School was to be based on the Semester System.

The new dates for the various school terms for Kindergarten Junior High School are as follows:

1st TERM
18th January – 14th April 2022 (12 Weeks)

15th April -9th May 2022 (Vacation)

2nd TERM

10th May – 18th August 2022 (14 Weeks)
19th August- 12th September 2022 (Vacation)

3rd TERM

13th September – 22nd December 2022 (14 Weeks)
