The demand for secondary education has increased as a result of high completion rates at the Junior high School level. In response to this, several new public schools have been provided, whilst facilities in existing schools have been upgraded.
Trends in school placement from the Computer Schools Selection and Placement System (CSSPS)
indicate some disparity in the selection of schools. Students overwhelmingly choose the popular but few traditionally high-performing schools thereby leading to oversubscription of these schools.
Many schools that have significantly improved in recent years remain unknown and undersubscribed.
We believe that this anomaly is partly due to the lack of information available to students and parents.

Pong-Tamale Senior High School is a rural-based school. It is situated at Pong-Tamale along the Tamale Bolgatanga main road, about 32km from Tamale, the capital of the Northern Region. It is located on a 63.7-
acre land south of the Pong-Tamale community with a concentration of most of the buildings in the north.

Increase access to secondary education to disadvantaged individuals and communities in line with the national policy of providing quality
secondary education to all Ghanaians irrespective of creed, ethnicity, geographical location, and socioeconomic background relevant to the manpower
need of Ghana.
MISSION
The provision of relevant secondary education to all Ghanaian youth through useful skills acquisition and training will unearth and develop their potential
