Ministry Of Education Breaks Silence On 44,000 Teachers Who Left Basic Schools In 2021

The management of the Ministry Of Education has finally responded to the claims by the Deputy Ranking Member of the Education Committee of Parliament, Dr.Clement Apaak that 44,000 teachers at the basic education level left the Ghana Education Service over poor conditions of service.

MOE in a press release dated 20th January 2022 explained that Based on the Verified EMIS data for 2020/2021, the actual figures that account for the difference in the total number of teachers between 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 is 34,424 and not 44,000 as wrongly speculated.

It will be recalled that a Member of the Education Committee Of Parliament, Dr.Clement Appaak said that 44,000 teachers walked out of the classroom at the basic level in 2021 over poor conditions of service.
According to Dr.Clement Apaak, this number is the highest in the history of the country as far the attrition rates of teachers are concerned.
