The demand for secondary education has increased as a result of high completion rates at the Junior high School level. In response to this, several new public schools have been provided, whilst facilities in existing schools have been upgraded.
Trends in school placement from the Computer Schools Selection and Placement System (CSSPS)
indicate some disparity in the selection of schools. Students overwhelmingly choose the popular but few traditionally high-performing schools thereby leading to oversubscription of these schools.
Many schools that have significantly improved in recent years remain unknown and undersubscribed.
We believe that this anomaly is partly due to the lack of information available to students and parents.

St. Paul’s Senior High School was established on 1st September 1979 in the private residence of Opanyin
Yaw Anim is a Philanthropist and a native of AsakrakaKwahu, by some eminent citizens of the community as Asakraka Secondary Commercial Day School.
They were Mr. Alex Micheal Owiredu (Fmr. Headmaster of Donkorkrom Agriculture Secondary), Afram Plains,
Mr. E.K. Gyekye (Fmr. Regional Manager, Methodist Education Unit), Koforidua, Opanyin Kwasi Nimo (Chief Farmer), Mr. S.S. Sefa Mireku (Businessman),
Mr. Dwamena Tanor (Businessman), Mr. L. Poku-Fori (Rtd. teacher), Nana Kwabena Darfour (Head, Accra Community) and Mr. H. Asumadu as Headmaster.
The District Education Service, Mpraeso, seconded Messes S.S. Sefa Mireku, Mr. Dwamena Tanor, and Mr. Akuamoah Boateng the then Administrative
Secretary was mandated by the Community to appeal to the Catholic Bishop of Accra, through Rev.
Fr. Mushoof Norbert of Kwahu Tafo for the adoption of the school as a Catholic Institution in 1986.
