About Science, Engineering and Technology Fair
Science, Engineering and Technology Fair, is a program emerging as a broader spectrum of plans and programs embarked upon by the Opportunity and Risk Management Institute (ORMI) corporate Social Responsibility programme. The event is geared towards stimulating the genius of Ghana’s future leaders to translate their otherwise pure theoretical knowledge into tangible products; by blending intellectuality and ingenuity to enable them the solve problems in their communities and nation as a whole. This will improve the standard of living, provide jobs and also make our learning experience more interesting and solution based for teachers/ instructors and students.
Abor Senior High School Courses And Details
The maiden event was held in April, 2022 with 8 schools participating in the event. Participants were drawn from both Junior High Schools and Senior High Schools namely: Aborsco, Tsiamesco, Dzosec, Avenorsec, Afiasec, Spaco, Abor EP and Abor RC Basic Schools where the students had the opportunity to showcase their intelligence combined with creativity.
Students were provided project topics and guidelines to work on which areas covered included but not limited to; Physics, Engineering, Technology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Human Science, Computer Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Etc.
Teachers /instructors were involved in providing guidance and motivation to the students in their various schools. Funds were made available by the organizers and sponsors of the event in line with project-material/components cost the budgets. The event was co-sponsored by Abor Community Development Association and one or two benevolent people.
Project judges were drawn from internal and external sources; who are experts in diff post-events of industry and science. A post event survey indicated that the Fair was highly successful.
Students showed great interest and showcased their abilities and talents at each stage in building their exhibits. This was very much translated into the various projects undertaken by them and showcased in the exhibition for both fellow students and the public to view and interact with the student inventors. Students were rewarded fairly in line with the judges’ expert opinion and almost was participants including facilitators were recognized. It appeared student-inventors could always improve upon their current projects in the future, as many of them stated that time to correct and give finishing touches to their inventions was their major obstacle.
Funding for the 2022 Fair was sourced mainly from the coffers of two main organizations namely: Opportunity and Risk Management Institute (ORMI) and Abor Community Development Association. Some benevolent individual donors also contributed.
