The demand for secondary education has increased as a result of high completion rates at the Junior high School level. In response to this, several new public schools have been provided, whilst facilities in existing schools have been upgraded.
Trends in school placement from the Computer Schools Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) indicate some disparity in the selection of schools. Students overwhelmingly choose the popular but few traditionally high-performing schools thereby leading to oversubscription of these schools.
Many schools that have significantly improved in recent years remain unknown and undersubscribed.
We believe that this anomaly is partly due to the lack of information available to students and parents.

DESCRIPTION
Aburi Girls Senior High School was established in 1946 but its origins and evolution can be traced to the work of the Basel Missionaries, who founded the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
Mission
took the provision of education as an integral part of its mandate and evangelistic agenda. Thus in 1852 a girls’ boarding school was opened at Aburi with Mrs. Windmann, Miss Anna Riss, and Miss
Rose Miller as the teacher. Unfortunately, these had to leave when the British, colonial masters of the Gold Coast dismissed them after Upon the recommendation of the Education Committee of the Presbyterian Church of the Gold Coast, the church decided in 1945, to establish Girls’ Secondary School at Aburi. The Aburi Presbyterian Girls’ Secondary School was therefore formally opened on 31st January 1946.
