Akufo Addo Begs Teachers To Call Off Strike And Return to The Classroom
President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo chose his words after the Ministers of Employment and Labour Relations, Finance, Education and National Security sat down with the Organized Labour to address the Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA) demands.
The President said ” I want to add my voice to the appeal by the outstanding Minister for Employment and Labour Relations.

Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, for the teachers to return to the classrooms, pending the outcome of negotiations, so that the education of our children, some of whom are preparing to sit their final exams, is not affected.”

Outcome Of Resolution With Stakeholders
Earlier with the represented members from the Government negotiating with the Organized Labour, both parties came out with five (5) resolutions which are:
- Government has taken note of the demand by the Organized Labour for 2a 0% Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA) in the light of the current economic conditions prevailing in the country.
- Government is committed to engaging Organized Labour to find a lasting solution to the same.
- Government has appealed to the Teacher Union to call off their ongoing industrial action.
In the light of the foregoing, the Parties have resolved to reconvene on Tuesday 12th July 2022 at 10 pm to begin negotiations on the demand by Organized Labour.
