Deputy Minister Of Education Gives New Update On Payment Of Students’ Allowances
The Deputy Minister Of Education, Honorable John Ntim Fordjour has finally breaks the silence on the delay in the payment of trainees’ allowances.
The Deputy Of Education delivering a Public Lecture at Komenda College Of Education to mark the second Annual Founders’ Day celebration said that teacher trainee allowances have not been canceled by the government.

According to the Minister, the delay in payment does not mean it is canceled. The allowances will be processed very soon,
He further added the dignitaries present to disregard any information concerning the cancellation of the Student’s allowances.
2022 Budget: Government Revealed Total Amount To Be Spent On Teacher and nursing trainee allowances
However, student teachers at the various accredited public colleges of education have not been paid for the past six months.
Each trainee is entitled to GH¢400.00 monthly, GH¢204 being the cost of feeding fees while the remaining GH@196.00 is paid directly to the E-Zwitch card of trainees.

Government in the 2013/2014 academic year scrapped the payment of monthly allowance of GH¢452 to the trainees; something that generated hue and cries among trainees and some parents, and was criticized by the then Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party. Nana Akufo-Addo, the then-presidential candidate of the NPP promised to restore the allowance together with that of trainee nurses if voted into office. In fulfillment of the promise, the government announced in August 2017 that it will from October that year begin giving each trainee GH¢400, from which GH¢196 will use to pay for trainees’ utilities.
