The demand for secondary education has increased as a result of high completion rates at the Junior high School level. In response to this, several new public schools have been provided, whilst facilities in existing schools have been upgraded.
Trends in school placement from the Computer Schools Selection and Placement System (CSSPS)
indicate some disparity in the selection of schools. Students overwhelmingly choose the popular but few traditionally high-performing schools thereby leading to oversubscription of these schools.
Many schools that have significantly improved in recent years remain unknown and undersubscribed.
We believe that this anomaly is partly due to the lack of information available to students and parents.

Okuapeman School was established in 1957 by the illustrious Scholar, Educationist, Barrister, and Solicitor, Maxwell Kwaku Opoku Akyeampong to fill the void of a secondary school in the Akuapem State.
Realizing that education is the key to personal and national development he decided in 1954 to establish
a first-class school and having poured out his heart and substance into the creation of Okuapeman School the beacon of the Akuapem state, the good lord called him to eternity in 1958 at the tender age of 44.
The government of Ghana took over the school in 1958 and absorbed it into the Public system adding on very essential infrastructure. The School motto is
“Semper Primus” – Always First.
To continue to be the Premier Beacon of Light for the youth to be responsible, knowledgeable, skillful, and morally upright citizens in Akuapemman and Ghana.
