Sad News: Teachers Call For A Refund Of Gh¢100 Deducted From Their Professional Development Allowance
The Information reaching the News Desk Of Skynewsgh.com has indicated that teachers are calling for a refund of Ghc100 Licensing Fee and tax deducted on Professional Development Allowance.
According to the teachers, an amount of Ghc 100 was deducted from their salaries as licensing fee yet most teachers across the country have not received their licenses.
Besides the licenses, once received are supposed to be renewed every three years therefore, it is strange to see another deduction for a license they have paid for but not received.

Teachers are therefore calling on the Ghana Education Service and the Controller and Accountant General’s Department(CAGD) as a matter of urgency, refund the Ghc 100 licensing fee deducted from their yet-to-be-paid November salaries and refund the tax deducted on the Professional Development Allowance.
Background
Before the introduction of Teachers Professional Allowances, the Government has signed a memorandum of understanding with Various Teacher Unions not to tax the teacher’s Professional Development Allowance.
There is an indication that the money to be paid at the end of November has been taxed.
