Government To Address Infrastructural Challenges in Colleges of Education

The leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana has met the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to discuss issues of infrastructure deficit in Colleges of Education upon the introduction of the 4-YEAR B.ED Programme and the increased enrollment of students.

According to TTAG the increase in enrollment has brought about the introduction of blended learning in Colleges of Education which is not helping the trainees.

The Vice President reacted that, it is very true that there are an infrastructure deficit in Colleges of Education and the number of students admitted has also increased because of the FREE SHS policy and the 4-YEAR B.ED.

”Government has begun the infrastructural development and many are still in progress in some of the Colleges Education “

Background
In October 2018, Cabinet has rolled out a new Bachelor of Education program in Colleges of Education to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the country’s Pre-Tertiary Level.
Under the new B. Ed curriculum trainees will now spend 4 years in college.

The shift from Diploma in Basic Education to Bachelor of Education has brought about the introduction of the Double Track system and Blended Learning in Colleges of Education due to lack of infrastructure.
