The Leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association Of Ghana (TTAG) has met the National Teaching Council (NTC) over the new teacher’s portfolio assessment.

Dr. Christian Addai PokThe Registrar of the National Teaching Council, Dr. Christian Addai Pok in a Facebook post said the leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana was briefed on the activities in the education sector for the year which will involve them as student teachers.

“Being the first meeting with them for the year, I together with some officers from the NTC used the opportunity to brief them on activities for the year 2022 which will involve them as student teachers,”

NTC Reveals Date To Conduct 2022 Licensure Examination For Newly Trained Teachers

Trainee teachers in the public Colleges of Education are one of the major stakeholders and the NTC will do everything possible to make trainees comfortable.

NTC Portfolio Assessment

The Registrar of NTC says the Portfolio Assessment is an evaluation system to assess the work of the newly qualified teachers.

Each Newly Qualified Teacher is to have evidence of more than 600 minutes a term or more than 900 minutes a semester of teaching, confirmed through a letter by his/her Head of school or lead mentor.
Dr.Christian Addai further said that the Council will soon announce when the newly trained teachers from Colleges Of Education will begin their portfolio assessment after it has been suspended.

In a similar development, NTC says 2022 reforms will include the introduction of subject-based testing which will examine the proficiency of teachers in their areas of specialization, and the introduction of Computer-Based Testing (CBT) as we do away with paper and pen testing currently ongoing.

“We want to see our profession populated with teachers who are imbued with high professional standards and ready to deliver the highest quality education to improve learning outcomes.” Dr. Addai said
