The Government of Ghana in collaboration with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has announced plans to recruit about 5000 Senior High School (SHS) graduates by end of August 2022 to work with health personnel in basic health care delivery on Community Health-Based Planning Services popularly called (CHPS) compounds.

Alhaji Ibrahim Bashiru, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Operations, Youth Employment Agency (YEA) announced the plan to recruit 500 Senior High School graduates during the launch of the 2022 Ghana Job Fair.

The year’s “Green edition” of the fair is a collaboration between the German Cooperation/GIZ Ghana, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, YEA, and the Delegation of German Commerce and Industry in Ghana.

Mr. Alhaji Ibrahim Bashiru further stated that since basic health care delivery on Community Health-Based Planning Services compounds are mostly available in deprived areas, SHS graduates will be available to assist regular nurses with record keeping and other administrative tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities Expected Of SHS Graduates To Be Recruited

The following are the details of the Senior high school graduates to be employed under YEA;

Assisting nurses in rural areas by taking patient histories

performing basic physical exams

Administering basic treatment at the bedside.

Details On Skill Training and Deployment of Artisans For SHS Graduates

The management of the Youth Employment Agency has revealed that 5000 people will be trained as carpenters, electricians, welders, and construction workers and given access to a networking platform to connect with individuals and businesses.

Plans are on rolling out at least 2,000 skilled laborers, including farmers, tailors, carpenters, and masons. Entrepreneurs will be made to train them through the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service, and then deploy them after.
