Government Pays 15% COLA To Public Sector Workers
The Government of Ghana has released the Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA) to the public sector workers following the agitations months ago.
Mr. Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem, Head of Controller And Accountant-General in a press release dated 29th August 2022 made it crystal clear that
”Under the approval given by the Ministry of Finance on 1st August 2022, following the Agreement signed between Government and Organized Labour on 14th July 2022, the Controller and Accountant-General have paid the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) to workers in Public Service Institutions.”
In the news months ago, the Organized Labour and the Government sat and signed an Agreement for the public sector workers’ due allowance.
The group agreed at the meeting Government to pay their members 15 percent.

The Cost Of Living Allowance represents 15 percent of the 2022 basic salary.
”The COLA which represents fifteen percent (15%) of the 2022 basic salary was paid for July and August.”
From the release according to CADG, the total amount paid for COLA for the two months (July & August) is Four Hundred and Eighty-Five Million Ghana Cedis (GHc485,000,000.00).
